          Locked phones cannot be used outside the country. for iphone 4 16 GB with Etisalat, you end up paying around 3,250 a year with data plan. After this period, the phone is yours.

      When you buy the dealer should be able to tell you. Locked ones won’t work with other SIMS. Mostly branded phones will be locked. If the phone has etisalat or du logo then it will probably be locked.

      Price is higher in Dubai as the iphones are unlocked and comes without a contract. However I do agree with you that the price can be lower. Actually a lot of related stuff is also marginally higher in Dubai.
