Sharaf DG only has U900 they say omnia will come after 2 months but it is allready released in the middle east i just got a call from Jumbo Qatar that i900 Omnia is avalible for AED4000

Qatar's market is allways 1000 above normal price the have the arte safire for 9000 anyways i contacted Eros the leading Samsung suplyer in UAE they said it will be out in the 2 or 3 week of july that too is not canfirmed

I called Samsung i.e. 800 SAMSUNG and the lady over there said that it wont be launched before September, as they have recently launched F480.

iPhone wont be officially launched in Dubai though it will be launching in 70 countries including Qatar & Egypt. The reason being that telecom authority here in UAE doesnt allow any mobile to be subsidised (i.e. sim lock) with any network.
The old iphones here are all cracked and unlocked and people are using it. The only problem with it is that the software cannot be updated in it and if you try it gets lock.
The new iphone wont be unlocked and will time to get it hacked. For me, I dont prefer iPhone coz its features are too limited. The only good thing about it is the coolness of its touchscreen. Even GPS is used with google maps currently which require either wifi or 3g to download map. 3g speed is slow as compared to omnia, same old camera 2mp and no video recording capability.

Not really, the maps are not saved on the mobiles, everytime you open it, it will download from google server.

If you check http://mobilearsenal.com/new/hands-on_with_samsung_i900.html , it has shown preview of omnia and they say that the software of omnia i being updated every other day. So by the time its here in dxb, it will be fully updated :)

Apple iPhone is a great his as well. Now there are not many iphones in the shops i think they are waiting for the new 3g one.

i have good local knowledg i will inform if iphone 3g or omnia is available. nokia 8 mp is still just rumours, no one saw the model.

About the GPS, i think it works with both, normal GPS and a-GPS, so no charges are necessary, but using a-GPS will give u more accurate positioning.

If you guys think waiting for the release in the UAE is bad, think again, we in kuwait, get our mobiles from the UAE, so we have to wait for you guys to get it first, and september is too far away, i might just order it online from italy or singapore...

I think aGPS gives you the location very fast instead of waiting for ages for the initial location. That saves a lot of time and battery power.

Kuwait is slower that UAE, that much I know. I had visited Kuwait few years back and saw the place was quite underdeveloped. I was surprised since Kuwait is such a rich country. I think now things are very different!

But you have stores like Fono there, which is part of the Axiom group in UAE, I think you should get the latest mobiles as soon as Axiom gets them here and passes on to their outlets in Kuwait.

Now a days craze is on i phone types, everyone is now looking for a touch screen and a computer in a mobile, here in saudi i found one mobile - a duplicate of iphone and this piece is made from china, named same as i phone - apple, but made in china, it has a dual sim card support wiht also a micro memory card slot, provided by dual batteries, it costs only 660 riyals, i puschased this one as came at throw away price, but looks and works same as my old apple - i phone.

I would never buy a chinese phone! I think its a waste of money.

Someone had mentioned that i900 is available at Jumbo Qatar for AED 4,000. That is not true. Jumbo Qatar does not sell Samsung mobile phones, I have confirmed it with the store. I have enquired with Samsung agent in Qatar. I am told that i900 will arrive in Qatar only in September. Thought no pricing was available, it should be between AED 2500 to AED 3000.

Today i went to a large electronic store here in kuwait... and i saw that they have the Omnia!! i played around with it and i fell inlove, very fast UI, Great Camera, screen was responsive even though they had the protective screen on it, i loved it... Now its not officially released here, but the guy said they got it straight from Korea... the mobile is priced at 255KD which is 3,522 AED, for the 8GB but maybe its very expensive because its not officially released and they only have 10 mobiles... they mght get more depending on their sales

I just spoke to a Samsung Dealer here in Dubai and they told me that SGH-i900 is on its way to Dubai. They are expecting the delivery within this month. They suggested me to call them back 3rd week of this month (August). Exciting huh!

Hi! I've also been waiting for Samsung Omnia i900. When i saw the F480, i've been planning to buy it. But when i reviewed the specs, I was turned off because it doesn't have Wifi. So i researched again for a fone like it but with Wifi and alas! I found the Samsung Omnia i900. And since then i've been asking for it in every shop. Man, I have been looking for the omnia IN EVERY CORNER OF QATAR. They don't have but some say the MIGHT get it in september. Most tell me to see Ali bin ali and whenever I call them, no1 picks. I guess I'll have to order it from Dubai, or Singapore. Please, guyz keep us updated on your finds in Dubai or UAE.
I'm really excited about this phone and definitely owns the touch diamond(except the screen res) and the iPhone(in all ways possible).
And Feroz, the innov8 is not going to be here in UAE anytime soon. The price is 1200 USD avg in US so expect the price to be AED 4500 when it will arrive in late sept or early nov.

Okay good news and bad news!
I just contacted virgin megastore and they told although they haven't received it yet. They told they are going to release it under a big promotion in the beginning of Ramadan. They told that it is going to be a great promotion with the estimated price being QAR 2500+ and they will give free memory cards and possible sim cards as well. Thats the good news, the bad news is obviously, that the wait is till september 1st. Thats a looong time. But I guess it sounds good.

Yo man, another 8 mp giant is born, yes its LG KC9100, with 8 megapixel camera with all the features like omnia, so now the market is booming with 8 mp fones, LG has a supportable card slot for 8 GB and also a Xenon flash, i exactly dont know how much internal memory it has, but now the time has come for NOKIA to release its Hero, 8 mp fone, and bet u al that once Nokia will release its 8mp fone, everyone will forget about all these and go straight ahead for Nokia's Hero 8mp. remember till now N82 is the best in camera fone, as it has a powerful Xenon flash.

Yeah, the LG KC910 is good and has high res camera, but that doesn't mean its better than the omnia. For one, the omnia runs WM which demands high processor speed. It also makes it open it A LOT more 3rd party apps. It also has larger internal memory and is still very slim. The omnia is faster, has more RAM, more internal memory, has WM and is a lot more all in one than the KC910.
And you guys really need to check out the new H1 ROM released for the omnia. It adds flick scrolling to ALL MENUS, brings back haptic feedback and configuration menu for DLNA servers
Also, although I'm not really sure about this, but I went to Dasman(I know, lame) and asked them about omnia. They told its there in souq najda or najeda or something. I'm not sure since I've never been there, Ive heard about it but never gone there. So can any one living in Qatar confirm that? I REALLY hope its true, but it sounds very skeptical.

Samsung Omnia much better as akshay says better specifications and big big pool of programmers and software to build on windows mobile operating system. And lots of free software goodies like games and utilities so I will surely wait for Omnia.

when i bought iPhone (6 months ago), fedup
in a week and sold it after a week of use.
While Omnia is really excellent, everything
available in this mobile. I bought @2900.

i dont know about warranty (who cares) and

i installed skype, called USA, amazing, it
is having very good sound quality and no
hands free required ! checked HSDPA it works
@ 1500 Kbps. NO hard manual, NO soft manual
available on any site so it is bit difficult
to use it as i am still messing for DivXplayer
for registration but dont know how to do?

is having little information only.
No doubt that in-built mobile Help is very

The screen visibility in sunlight is very

about pics n video. aGPS works fine while

i had a peek at Omnia, looks ok but not like iPhone, features fantastic but as ketan said not very good in sunlight, camera not so great.

Yes, both the diamond and the omnia have poor sunlight viewing and that's a fact. But I completely disagree on the camera part. It has a great camera with a lot of features and takes very confident pictures with fairly accurate color. Its not as good as the innov8 but its definitely better than the SE C902, which is a dedicated camera-phone. There was a review which compared about fourteen 5 MP cameras and the omnia ranked pretty good. I'll post the link soon. Maybe its not n82 good, but takes nice pics.

I'll call virgin megastore, but I have a feeling, I'll end up ordering from Dubai.

Oh and 2 more things:
1. The latest firmware is not DXHG4. As I told earlier the latest is H1, and is a major update to previous firmwares. It bring flick-scrolling to all menus in the OS and makes adds more animations for switching from portrait to landscape and is also smoother. The whole OS feels running smoother as well.
2. Not finding the right programs for omnia. I have a HUGE list of must-have programs for the omnia. Will post as soon as I get time(its long)

yesterday my friend visited here to saudi from dubai, he brought omnia recently which he purchased in singapore.
every thing is good, fone looks beautiful, functions, GPS, all the other things are just superb, but when it comes to take photos out door, damn, we cannot see any thing in the sunlight, , and it makes photography miserable, then what is the use of a camera when u cannot see the screen in day light, and also as it has only led flash its not that good camera at night, hence its a BIG Flop.!!! - ( Good for Nothing )

Most probably Real Player would work on the omnia, but I highly recommend you do not install it. I thought real player was extinct man, noone uses it anymore since its useless now. As for the pocketpc, i recommend you go with the TCPMP or the core player since it will run any format you throw at it. And with the omnia's processor, it will even run uncompressed HD video(max 720p) without converting to lower res.(but I highly recommend you do)

The H1 ROM is not available to update via your computer or the omnia directly. You have to go to the samsung center and tell them to upgrade.
But you do have another choice:
You can go to - http://www.modaco.com/content-page/271641/pauls-complete-guide-to-upgrading-your-omnia-to-hh1-and-what-to-do-when-things-go-wrong/page/20/ (the best guide) to upgrade your ROM to the H1. But it is risky, and I recommend you to completely read the dangers of this kind of upgrade, since it can brick your omnia. If you're confident you can do it, then do it. Otherwise wait for it to be available to update normally.

Yes, reviews have stated the omnia's sunlight legibility is low, but none as much as you have. For comparison, the omnia's sunlight legibility is like the touch diamond's which, while isn't as good as the iPhone is not TOO bad that it is unreadable or such. I have seen people use the diamond under the sun, while the screen will be poorer, I haven't experienced it to be unseeable and neither have the SO MANY OTHER REVIEWS. And I wouldn't dare call it good for nothing.

And I have more disappointment from Qatar. I called Virgin Megastore, they told it maybe available in Sept, maybe October!! So frustrating!! I was looking forward to it... Well, I think Dubai it is then, the place to order from.

The fact that it has LED is also a great thing for a WM phone. It wasn't meant to be a completely DEDICATED camera phone anyway. There are VERY FEW phones that do so many different things like the omnia does. For what you're demanding from a phone, you should probably go for the innov8 for the compromise of the touch screen and WM.
I recommend you not to go with the C905 though. The C902, which was supposed to be a completely dedicated camera-phone has performed poorer than many all-in-one phones like the omnia and n82, n95 etc. The C905 is going to be based on the same image processing software, so do not expect any better results. More megapixels is usually a marketing gimmick(not in the innov8's case) and makes people believe it will take better pictures. SE's profits are crashing and they are cutting jobs. They are in a desperate situation and the C902 and C905 might be the examples of their desperation in order to regain marketshare.

yesterday night i sat for around an hour in eros at last they opened up and said they have it in their warehouse and the are putting the warrenty cards in it but they dont know when will they release it in the market one says within 3 days one says after ramadan

I ve tested it in one of the store... its simply awesome and works pretty, the only reason that I didnt buy it yet is because of the price... its 3499AED... thts crazy guys... very expensive, so just checking other stores...

I know its already available for cheaper price but without warranty and software version is not the latest... yes guys the official release has got H1 version which official and latest... it has all the features which were left out in G4 i.e. haptic feedback in keyboard, scrolling in normal menu and others...

I ll just check few other stores today and if its not available in cheaper price then i ll go for the 3499AED...

my friend is complaining that when she is using her fone continously for long time, it is heating, i mean if we are talking on long conversations, his ear burns wiht the heat produced, this is bad, , i dont know why samsung the perfect hard disk drive makers hav this problem, any way i ahve asked my friend to remove the battery and place it and charge it fully then discharge it fully and again recharge it, then i hope it will come to normal,any one guys if u face the same problem, plz inform , and admin, what may be the reason and what is the solution,

Just use bluetooth or wired headset man, this is a common thing in mobile phones and long conversations are not healthy to the brain using mobile phones close to the ear and heart. that is a known scientific fact!

to everyone else ,the prices in lulu are very suspicious. the Touch Wiz in lulu is 1400 and in eros is 2200.there cant be a difference of 800 thats why i dednt buy the omnia from there and on the other hand the 8Gb is not yet lounched by eros how can lulu get the stock?

i need ur help, even tho i give advises to my folks but when it comes to me i seek advise, yep comming to the point, i am going on my vacation to my country and i need to give the best mobile to my dad, he is in his late 50s, last time i gave him Nokia communicator and it lasted over 3 years, and now the communicator days are gone, & i think shifting my dad suddenly to touch will be dissapointing, as it wl b difficult for him to handle, plz suggest a fone which is identical to communicator buy latest, my dad doesnt use wifi or gps, only the focus is tht he should hav a good or say better fone by which he can make calls, and make notes / reminders/ meetings schedules/calender things in it. and lastly it should not be expensive as he will not prefer to have expensive fone,

i dont want to dissapoint u, nor i am agaist LULU, but the fact is that the mobile at the malls are arent that good, i dont know why, but some or other problems come after wards, when i was in dubai a couple of years ago, i purchased mobiles and tv from car4s, but every time i was dissapointed wiht the performance, then i decided to go for the original supplier, like Jumbo for Nokia, and Eros for samgsng, and they are still surviving, the N73 which i took in late 2006 from jumbo is still good.
if u want quality and performance go for original, if u want to save money go get the ones assorted from the malls.

Okay, lots of things:
Last Saturday, I went to virgin megastore, Doha.
And guess what? They told that they released it, but it sold out in only 1 day! All 30 pieces! Damn, that was disappointing.

About the H3 and H1 firmware, I don't think you get that pre-installed yet. You need to go to the official samsung service center and they will install it for you. Not available as official online update yet. Obviously, you can manually install it as I had earlier mentioned but yeah, thats that.

And man, once I was so convinved to buy the samsung omnia, the touch hd released. I'd even got over the WQVGA resolution! But touch hd is too late, december launch for most countries.
About the Samsung Bresson. Speculation-ware only now though, sounds great! The Full HDTV support would probably mean it has 800x480 resolution(or higher?? AAAAAH!!!, hehe, no way)If they just add a WVGA resolution screen to the omnia, for say omnia 2 or even this Bresson(with all the features of the omnia. I swear to god, it would be the most awesome phone EVER. Hopefully the Bresson atleast has WM or Android. Android is great and all, but it has been a tad-bit underwhelming. A

And wow! Is what Divin is saying true? Thats a great price! Can someone confirm?

Nokia 5800 XPress Muzik has finally come, its a touch screen but lol only a 3.2mega pix camera, but all other goodies like GPS , 3.5mm Audio jack, TV out, and yaa the 8GB memory card included, but its not an high end fone, it is in upper mid range
one good new thing is the first S60 handset to feature touchscreen technology will run on the new edition of the OS - Symbian S60 Taco 5.0.

Dont get too excited about the price of the phone at Lulus if you will b in Singapore then you can haggle and get the 16GB version for $520 US$

Why is it that every one likes to charge ripp off prices here in Dubai...biggest draw back has to be texting other than that a great phone for the price 16GB model(1910 AED)

Okay guyz, I need your help now. Qatar is hopeless. The omnia released here at Intertec and Virgin Megastore. At both places, its 3600 QR(QR~=AED), which is way overpriced.
But my friend is going to the Abu Dhabi 3 days later. Can you please tell me the price over there including the exact location? I really need it, he is going 2 or 3 days later. as u know the messages on WM6 as not single. the shrink like a chat blog in one conversation.well that is my problam 2 time by mistake i thought that this is a single msg and around 50 sms got deleated

so is there any way to change it to the same WM 5 messaging way with the single SMS.any software or plugin or anything

i hav an old N73, which i purchased in dec 2006 in dubai, every thign is fine wiht it, but when the frequency of attending or making calls increases this fone freezes / hangs,
can we update its version or flush its software and install the new latest one, and will it work. thats the only problm and other wise its just perfect.

Anyway there is a really great offer in India. Samsung omnia has been released with a bang in India, its being released immediately in 32gb and 24gb versions. No 16gb, only these 2. They are being released as 16gb internal + 16gb microSDHC from sandisk and 8gb internal + 16gb microSDHC. The best part is that the 16gb microSDHC is very recent and isn't available widely in US and other places till now.
Also, the prices are great as well. The 32gb version goes for Rs. 39999 which is approx 3100 AED and the 24gb version goes for Rs.37000 which is around 2900 AED. LG going to release KC 780 the thinnest 8mp slider fone,
and ofcourse "The gareebon ka yaar" affordable touch from LG - a fone every one can afford LG KP - 500, it wll hav a 3mp camera,
it seems LG & Samsung are leading the show.

but u can come across to sharjah, on Al wahda, LULU u can check in, or else drop in Sharjah city centre, hope that wl be fine,
the best if u hav time is go to deira city centre, ther u hav a bunch of malls,
or if u want the best price, then definately go to al barsha, lulu, in gulf oasis, it is after 4th interchange, sheikh zayed road.

Al Barsha's - Gulf Oasis shop inside LULU hypermarket in Al Barsha has got stock back and I did purchased yesterday (14. November 2008) the i900 as 16GB version for Dhs 2.599.- It was in a original sealed box with one year warranty. Out of the box and charged for 3 hrs, then started the ignition... and all function works fine, zero problems.

Now some feedback and question...

There are not many ring tones included and e single "Beep" like in Nokia is not there either. Also the ring tone setting I like, Beep once and then vibrate only... this setting is not possible with our new friend Omnia. I f any one find a way to modify.. p[lease let me know.

The claim that Samsung SGH-i900 has a GPS turns out to be only Google maps... and yes you can like the build in GPS receiver output to a com port, but nothing mentioned in the manuals of a real "full blown" GPS software. If any one could give me here at this time some advise...

the last price i have seen on axiom at Mega mall was 2599 dhs. so there is a huge possibility that it will drop around 2000 or less in 2 months. Besides, i believe rather then spending a lot of money purchasing from huge stores such as Jumbo, sharaf or Fono, its bettter to buy from the mobile roundabout in sharjah. even they have the latest fones in some shops (u have to look around for the best prices) and they are comparatively lower then stores in the malls.

Hello ROB, you are correct, Windows 6.1 has a problem with forwarding sms because of the conversation threads. You can either disable the conversation mode, or do a round about way of clicking on the contact number inside the thread which opens up the contact, then close the contact window which will take you back to the sms and this time the thread will be blue in color after which you can forward it.

I'm in Abu Dhabi and I wonder if you know of a place where I can get a few Omnia 2 units for a good price. A lot of time passed since your rewiev and I'm having a hard time finding shops with more than a couple units, and the prices are still quite high for a +2 year old model.
